Each full-time and part-time Registered Nurse shall earn Paid Time Off (PTO) hours to use for holidays, vacations, reasons of a personal necessity, and incidental, short-term illness, providing that the maximum accumulation shall be no more than 400. PTO accrues based on *scheduled hours plus any additional straight-time hours worked up to a maximum of forty (40) hours per week.

Example of how to figure PTO
Nurse with 4 years of service who has accrual rate of 0.11924/hr. from chart above. Using the formula we get the following.
80hrs. (Straight-time hours worked for the pay period) x 0.11924 (Hourly accrual rate) = 9.5 hrs. Max PTO accrual/pay period.

9.7 No Seasonal Ban
A request for PTO shall not unreasonably be denied because of the season of the year. 9.9 Proration at Termination
Any Nurse who is eligible for PTO under the terms of this Agreement and whose service has been terminated shall be entitled to terminal PTO pay as accrued at the time of termination. |
9.8 Deferred PTO
It is the intention of the parties to this agreement that the PTO time to which a Nurse is entitled shall be taken each year. A Nurse may, because of a disability which may necessitate a postponement of the PTO or because of an approved absence or through mutual written agreement with the Medical Center, defer earned PTO beyond the year during which the PTO would otherwise be taken. Earned PTO shall not be lost by reason of the provision of this paragraph. |
Cash Out of PTO
- When a nurse's PTO accrual reaches 400 hrs., NO further PTO hours can be accrued by the nurse until the accrued hours are below 400 hrs.
- In addition, during the calendar year, a Nurse will be eligible, on a voluntary basis and pursuant to Medical Center policy, to cash out up to eighty (80) hours of accrued PTO provided that there remains at least eighty (80) hours in the Nurse’s PTO bank.
- Payroll shall review the nurse’s accrued PTO balance semiannually. If at such times a nurse has accumulated more than 328 hours, he/she will receive an automatic cash-out for hours in excess of 328.
- Mandatory cash-out will occur during early June and early December. The 6% cash-out penalty will not be applied to mandatory cash-outs.
